"I spend a lot of time in this conference room because I study with my friends here. But beyond studying, it's where conversation happens. Many of my friends are Latino and low-income, so we collectively work to apply the things we learn about in our classes to our own lives. The conference room is where we either reinforce what we have learned or we challenge it. So much that I have learned about race has been challenged through such conversations with people who are similar to me, who I really care about, and who I feel safe around."
