"The Mounds are a very dominating White space. I often feel like I have to rush as I walk through the Mounds because White people are staring. They just sit there and lounge—the majority of White Pitzer students spend their time there. As a result, I feel like students of color are excluded from one of the largest parts of campus culture.

A group of students started 'take over the Mounds.' Students of color gather on the Mounds, sit close together, and play music that we feel comfortable with. I think we're slowly progressing as people of color on the Mounds."
