"Last week, I was reading for my Chicano/Latino Studies class about the inequalities that the system of education has when it comes to people that aren't White or don't speak English. I realized how this is so intimately connected to people like me.

I was sitting in Seal Court reading a poem about Guatemala and the massacres that occur there, and I just started bawling because of all the White people surrounding me, just sipping their coffee. I felt so small and helpless, but I also felt motivated and empowered to continue to advocate for students of color, especially when it came to challenging academic spaces that often lack representation."
