"Engaging with my mixed-race identity has brought me to further understand my Blackness. OBSA is important to me because it's a space for Black people to come and celebrate themselves, interrogate what it means to be Black, and what a Black community looks like. It's a place where I feel accepted and welcomed, especially after all the work I did with MERGE and my own period of introspection."

"When I was a first year, I had an OBSA mentor who was a graduating senior. She really helped me come to understand what the racial climate would be like in Claremont and how that would interact with my relationships with certain professors.

More recently, OBSA has been revamped and been more engaged and supportive of Black students on campus. There's been greater community bonding and financial/emotional support."
