"In my first year, I was eating at the Scripps dining hall with a group of friends. Everything was going well, but somehow we entered into this heated conversation about religion, specifically Christianity. 

 

Although I am not very vocal about my faith, I felt very uncomfortable in that space. Where I'm from, Orange County, there are a lot of Korean Americans who are adamantly Christian. I grew up with the Christian faith and it was a huge part of my upbringing.

 

As a result, I felt challenged in that situation since a part of my background was under attack.
