"I spend a lot of time at the Grovehouse. However, I often feel my racial identity is either minimized, ignored, or silenced, or I'm completely exoticized or tokenized as somebody who's really rare who frequents the Grovehouse since there aren't very many people of color there.

Students from more entitled backgrounds enter a space like the Grovehouse, which is intended for the entire community, and take over the space. It's a hard space for me to be in because people don't really like to have conversations about race. When I'm in there, I can almost feel fingerprints caked on the wall of a history of a certain type of isolation and non-acceptance."
